Raj Thackeray Issue & The Plight of Maharashtrians

Everyone seems to be against Raj Thackeray. No one seems to be discussing the root cause, the real issues and the plight of Maharashtrians.

According to me and most Marathi people the real issues are:

1. Burden on Maharashtra
For how many years should Maharashtrians bear the burden of UPites and Biharis under the name of One India, just because their states are undeveloped? Surely, we want to live in One India but not at the cost of losing our jobs, our land, our culture, our language and our identity.

2.
Recruitment of UP/Biharis in Maharashtra
Railway Recruitment Board, under the guidance of Union Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav (who was jailed for lots of scams like Fodder Scam) is systematically recruiting only UPites/Biharis. He behaves like Indian Railways is his personal property. What you heard this time (i.e. ads published in UP and Bihar dailies only, for jobs in Mumbai) is just one example. There are numerous other examples.

3.
Adamancy to Mix with Local Culture
Why Maharashtrians don't have any problems with Gujaratis, Marawaris, Sindhis, South Indians, Bengalis, Punjabis, etc? These people are in abundance in Maharashtra and even higher in number than UPites/Biharis and they control lots of trading and businesses in urban and rural Maharashtra. Factually speaking, most of them are wealthier than Marathis and even UPites/Biharis. If you ask any Marathi person, he/she will tell the reason behind this. It is because these people mix with local culture, speak Marathi, respect local culture and the most important thing is that they don't import their own politicians from their states (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Karnataka, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamilnadu, etc). They earn money here and live happily with Marathis without polluting cultural or political situation of Maharashtra.

Now if you come to Mumbai, Pune or for that matter any city in Maharashtra you will easily notice the difference between these people and UP/Biharis. When UP/Biharis come to Maharashtra they just do everything opposite to what Gujaratis, Marawaris, Sindhis, South Indians, Bengalis, Punjabis, etc do. They will never gel up with local culture, and will always remain as UP/Biharis even after spending 30 or 40 years in Maharashtra (Remember Jaya Bachchan's comments on Marathi language). They bring their own politician, they never learn Marathi (can you imagine how painful this would be for Maharashtrians who love their language), they take away Marathi people's job not on merit but by lobbing and by political influence. It's not only in railways, but in other government jobs as well. If you are interested in statistics, please open Maharashtra Governments' official site and look at employees list in MH union portfolios and you will know how much discrepancies Marathi people have to bear due to their political leaders' weight in the center.

4. National Language Phenomenon
One thing I want to ask all UP/Biharis. You always dismiss the issues of language by saying that Hindi is the national language of India. Do you know the history of Hindi becoming national language? Hindi was opposed by Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Bengal, Assam and all north eastern states. It was only Maharashtra and Gujarat who favored Hindi against English for national language under the three language formula (which states that if Hindi would be compulsory in non-Hindi states, then Hindi states should learn at least one non-Hindi language of India). By the way, how many UP/Biharis know any Indian language other than Hindi?

5. Mockery of Amendment to Democratic Law
Now, one last point I want to clear. Everyone says that according to constitution of India we can live and work anywhere in India. I totally agree with this, but you should also know the amendment to the law - "In such a way that it should not create any problems with native people and should be in accordance with the living situations" I hope you understand what it means. Don't you think Mumbai is already saturated? Don't you think that these lakhs and crores of UP/Biharis create problems such as space, water, jobs, transportation, security, culture, etc to local population of Mumbai? Again I would like to mention one historical fact. The creator of Indian constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had warned Mumbai and other non-Hindi states that these UP/Bihar people with their huge population, political influence and underdevelopment will create problems for every non-Hindi state that will be lenient with them.

Thank you for reading this Blog. I hope that with all these facts and real issues, you would be able to discuss the current scenario better.

Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!
